Frequently asked questions about Microblading, Powder Ombré brows, Combination brows and lip blush.
WHAT IS COSMETIC TATTOOING?
Cosmetic tattooing, also known as semi-permanent makeup, is the process of implanting pigment into the dermis layer of the skin by means of tiny, sterile, disposable needles to create hair-like strokes and makeup.
WHAT IS MICROBLADING?
Microblading is a form of semi-permanent makeup, during which a handheld tool is used to manually create hair-like strokes.
WHAT IS POWDER OMBRE?
Ombre powder brows are created by a digital machine that implants tiny dots of pigment into the skin.
WHAT IS COMBINATION?
Combination brows are the result of combining microblading and powder ombre. During this procedure, custom hair-like strokes are first created throughout the brows, followed by machine shading for density. Combination brows can have the best of both techniques and is usually the best for those looking to balance out, fill or achieve fuller brows.
CAN I GET A COSMETIC TATTOO IF I AM PREGNANT OR BREASTFEEDING?
No,
you can’t undergo this procedure if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
DO YOU DO A CONSULTATION BEFORE YOU START?
Yes, we offer online consultations if you need a recommendation before booking. Simply fill out the "online consultation" form on the CONTACT page. We also start all of our appointments with an in-depth consultation to better understand your needs. During this consultation, you can share inspiration photos/your daily makeup routine with your artist.
HOW DO YOU CHOOSE THE SHAPE/COLOR?
We determine your brow shape based off
your natural brow shape, face shape and eye shape. Each service is customized to ensure we are
keeping the integrity of your natural features. Pigment colors will be swatched and shown to you
prior to starting.
DOES COSMETIC TATTOOING HURT?
A topical anesthetic (5% lidocaine numbing ointment) is applied for 20 mins prior. Numbing cream is also layered several times during the procedure to ensure comfort.
WHAT SHOULD I DO BEFORE MY EYEBROW PROCEDURE?
- Avoid Botox or injectable filler treatments for 30 days before or after your appointment
30 days.
- If you have been on Accutane in the past, you must allow at least one year before you
consider any form of cosmetic tattooing.
- Avoid alcohol or caffeine at least 24 hours before to your appointment.
- Avoid any blood thinning medications for a minimum of 72 hours prior to your
appointment.
- Avoid extreme sun exposure for a minimum of 4 weeks prior to your appointment.
Consider scheduling your appointment after 4 weeks if you are planning on going on a
tropical vacation.
- Avoid extreme sun exposure and tanning beds for 30 days BEFORE and AFTER your
procedure.
IS THERE ANY DOWNTIME?
No, there isn’t. Although your brows will need up to 2 weeks
to fully heal, most clients resume their daily routine after their appointment. We advise avoiding
the gym for a few days.
WHAT WILL MY EYEBROWS LOOK LIKE AFTER THE PROCEDURE?
Your
eyebrows will appear dark after your appointment. They will get darker a few hours after the
appointment and will remain bold in color until you reach the scabbing period of the healing
process (day 5-7). They will reach your desired color once they are fully healed. Redness
subsides within 48-72 hours.
HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
Cosmetic tattoo, also known as semi-permanent makeup is
targeted to penetrate the superficial layers of the skin. This is the main reason why it is different
from traditional tattooing, which targets the deeper dermis layers. Semi-permanent makeup is not
permanent because the pigment implanted into the skin will slowly be filtered through your
skin’s natural cell turnover cycle. Each client’s skin will break out pigment at different rates.
Brows typically last 1-3 years depending on lifestyle, sun exposure and how well they’re cared
for.
WILL I NEED A TOUCH UP?
A perfecting touch up is recommended but not always needed
after 6 weeks of the initial appointment. The majority of clients require this touch up to achieve
their desired look. Touch ups can be scheduled 6-12 weeks after the initial procedure. Touch ups
allow your artist to access your healed results and make any necessary adjustments. An annual
touch up is highly recommended to maintain the brows.
WHAT DO YOU DO DURING THE TOUCH UP APPOINTMENT?
We assess your healed
results and make appropriate adjustments to color/shape if needed. We also go over everything
again to ensure longevity because semi-permanent makeup is meant to be layered in your skin
for optimal results.
WHO IS NOT A CANDIDATE FOR COSMETIC TATTOOING?

- If you are on any blood thinning medication such as Advil, Accutane, Retin-A, Vitamin A, C & E, Fish oils or Niacin. Stop 6 weeks prior to procedure.
